About this Website

Hello, I'm Phil Mosby and I created this website.

I am an astro/landscape photographer and fine-art print maker by trade, but I've also been writing code and creating websites for over 20 years.

I initially started creating this website for my own personal usage, to assist in the formatting of astronomical data for my annual Nights on Earth Fine Art Wall Calendar and Stargazer's Guide to the Night Sky. I soon realized it might also have value as an "addendum" of sorts for those who purchased the calendar (and anyone else!) to be able to see and print a custom calendar with times of events for their own location in the same style as presented in the print calendar.

I also wanted it to be fun to look at, and something you'd be stoked to have open in full screen on your extra monitor or printed on your wall. I hope I've succeeded!

Nights on Earth is powered by a hand-curated database of astronomical events that I've been compiling for the last 4 years. I couldn't have hoped to achieve this without the aid of the below websites that have been integral to my research.

You'll see links to these websites throughout the calendar, those links will lead to more specific information about the astronomical events that they're related to. Every one of these websites is worth bookmarking and thoroughly perusing.

The localized sun and moon rise, set, meridian, phase, and other datapoints are pulled from the TimeAndDate Astronomical API, a service I subscribe to for this purpose.

First choose your location, month, and year, then initiate your web browser's Print function. When the print dialog opens, choose settings similar to the below:

• Layout: LANDSCAPE
• Margins: NONE or MINIMAL
• Background Graphics: ENABLED
